domestic archaeologyAll right, so we're doing some renovations in the house and my room has been completely remodeled. Which means that I had to take EVERY SINGLE BIT OF STUFF I HAVE EVER OWNED out of the room.
Wow, talk about cathartic.
After seeing how much clutter I had gathered throughout the years (there was an entire shelf in my closet that I hadn't touched in A DECADE. I kid you not), I decided to throw away approximately 3/4 of all the crap I was hanging on to and to keep only the stuff that was absolutely essential to my existence. You know, so I wouldn't feel so much like one of those junk goblins in The Labyrinth.
During one of my "keep it - chuck it" sessions, I rediscovered one of my old portfolios. You know, the paintings and drawings that I thought were my very best, the stuff I wanted to wow people with. I was appalled. Shocked. Flabbergasted. And then I remembered thinking one of my professors was a complete jerk for saying that he couldn't see me as a professional illustrator, doing the stuff that I was doing. And then I saw how freaking right he was.
And then I found all the stuff I did, back when I was having these drawing lessons, somewhere between college and deciding to do The Exam. Yeah, I was going the right way. I was getting better with practice. But I was still nowhere near a professional level.
But you know what? Instead of making me miserable, seeing all that stuff actually made me see what the problem is with my art.
No, I'm not going to say what it is. All you guys need to know is this: I'll be gone a while longer. But I'll be back. And I'll blow your freaking minds away.

vi seu personagem Duncan na na mostra Parla! da SBgames. Ficou bem legal. Conversei com outros ilustradores da mostra que estavam lá na vernissage, mas acho que não cheguei a falar com você.
Muito legal seus trabalhos. Vejo que você tem um foco em ilustrar personagens, que é algo que eu foco também.
Eu expus 2 personagens, um deles ficou em terceiro (Quayerhentium) e o outro ficou com menção honrosa (Sephius). Ambos de um projeto de universo que to desenvolvendo chamado A Luz da Escuridão (www.aluzdaescuridao.com)
Esse tipo de mostra é muito bom para conhecer outras pessoas que estão ilustrando por aí. Fazer contatos e etc. Vou te "watchear" aqui.
Mais uma vez, parabéns pelo trabalho. Até ano que vem na próxima SBgames la em Floripa.

Você está de mais parabéns ainda, já tinha ficado impressionada com o fato de vc ter ganho 2 posições imporantes e fiquei mais ainda, quando vi o trabalho exposto. Desejo muito boa sorte pra vc e pro seu trabalho!
PS: meu nome é Annita (eu prefiro Ann), mas muita gente achava que eu me chamava Amanda na faculdade... Engraçado!

Peço desculpas pela confusão do nome. Na verdade eu já sabia que era Annita, não sei pq escrevi Amanda. Deve ter sido pq tinha uma Amanda na mostra tb. Acho que lembro de você lá na mostra (cabelo ruivo não?) e se não me engano acho que te vi pelo evento uma vez ou outra.
Pena que a chuva atrapalhou bastante, principalmente pra fazer aquele networking, pq acabou ficando todo mundo muito isolado.
Vi alguns personagens seus e vi que a personagem Sara vc fez para um RPG chamado Tagmar. Vc joga RPGs? Estou perguntando por que eu tinha um plano de produzir um RPG de mesa baseado no universo da Luz da Escuridão. O problema é que eu nunca joguei RPGs nem conheço pessoas que joguem ou jogaram. Se for o caso e pudesse me dar uma direção. Nem que seja dizer que é besteira fazer hehehe.
